Lead singer, Fred Stark and Rod McBrien teamed up in 1974 to record the single "Isn't It Lonely Together", which was released that year on RCA records. It was an easy listening hit rising high on all three trade charts. Their album Big Star was released in 1975 gaining critical acclaim and gleaning two more singles, "Big Star" written by Fred, and "We've Got Time". Two years later Lifesong Records signed the duo and released "Home Again, Again" written by Fred and Rod. Stark & McBrien also collaborated in the jingle business and were awarded a Cleo Award in 1977 for their performance of "Sha-na-na" for Coca Cola.
